the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living has me looking forward to Spring (as do many other things). the cover of it is breathtaking:

in the flesh, it's like a beautiful watercolour painting. this is part of a yard belonging to a couple in California. their property is surrounded by a deer fence, as their yard would be a candy store to deer.
i've been reading and dreaming about one article in particular in this issue: Cultivating the Past which is about "vintage" or "classic" flowers. basically, the flowers my grandmother grew and i loved. they include:

clematis

dahlia

foxglove

peonies

snapdragons
